“You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather.”
— Pema Chödrön
Dear Friends,

This Sunday we continue our exploration of Unity’s Five Principles by turning to the Third Principle: “We create our experiences by the activity of our thinking.” But rather than approaching this as “mind over matter,” we’ll be looking at something far more compassionate and spiritually grounded.

Our talk is titled “When Your Thinking Learns to Serve Your Soul.” It’s an invitation to remember that our thoughts are not who we are—they are simply movements within the vast awareness that we are. When we understand the First Principle (One Presence and One Power) and the Second Principle (that Presence expressing as us), we begin to see that our thinking becomes the lens through which that Presence shines.

Many of us know what it feels like to be caught in loops of overthinking—worrying, replaying, planning, imagining. But there is a simple, grace-filled way out: gentle observation. When we notice a thought as a thought, without fighting it or believing it, something shifts. Space opens. The body softens. Spirit becomes perceptible again.
Peace doesn’t come from eliminating thoughts; it comes from loosening our attachment to them. This is not dissociation—it’s spaciousness. It’s the soul reclaiming its rightful place, and the mind learning to serve rather than dominate.

This Sunday we’ll explore how to create that inner space, how to relate to our thoughts with compassion, and how to let our thinking become an instrument of clarity rather than confusion. When our thinking serves our soul, life becomes permeable to grace.

I look forward to being with you.

Rich blessings,
Rev. David
